People from around the world come and set the tiles to reproduce the original image from many small tiles. The tiles themself are easily moved around using mouse cursor and the Ajax magic. If you mess to much, you get the warning!

The cool part? Wathich people from around the world move tiles along with you! There’s a map and you can see who’s on the picture with you. Once registered, you get to chat with those people. Below are some excerpts from their press release:

TheBroth is a new mosaic-like artform where people from all over the world can come together to create colorful works of digital art in real time. When many people are interacting at TheBroth, the mosaic tiles can whiz across the screen in an unpredictable manner, making it a challenge for players to complete their works of digital art. Players can create their own individual masterpieces, or catch someone else’s vision and work collaboratively to make it a reality.

The Global Mosaic exhibits unique social consensus effects, making it an novel experiment in observing artistic human interaction online. TheBroth features a unique implementation of democracy of live art, allowing participants to instantly rate each other’s behavior using positive or negative votes. Destroying others’ work, for example, could result in a negative vote from another player. Once a player receives enough negative ‘Karma’, he or she is temporarily exiled to limit the impact of destructive or annoying behavior.

Visitors can make instant snapshots of any mosaic, including their very own, and wear them on a T-shirt as a fashion or lifestyle statement.

“TheBroth is whatever you make it – visitors can choose to just hang out and watch others’ creations take shape, or jump in and start making their own mosaic-style Mona Lisa. The gallery system allows visitors to rate and comment on any of the snapshots, plus you can immediately purchase any artwork on a T-shirt, mug or mousepad”, explains Weichselbaum.

TheBroth’s tile-dragging application was created to share the fun of simple and collaborative multiplayer activities with as wide an audience as possible. Casual players, artists, developers and marketers can come together and discuss any aspect of live art, TheBroth, Ajax and Web 2.0 in a dedicated support forum.

“TheBroth can be enjoyed by people of any age from anywhere around the world,” explains Weichselbaum. “It doesn’t require any special software or plug-ins to run either. We’re serious about sharing what we’ve learned while making TheBroth – all the Php, Mysql and JavaScript tips, tricks and techniques are revealed in our developer blog.”

A unique aspect of TheBroth is that anyone can open their own room to share with invited friends or associates. This service is completely free and even allows branding, allowing webmasters to use TheBroth as a novel viral marketing tool to advertise their own sites and services.

digg combines social bookmarking, editorial website and RSS news aggregator in one. The best thing about it is its’ homepage with digging news – and the only people that decide if somethings rocks or not are the users themselves.

Now digg adds something calles digg spy – a tool allowing you to see live updates and promotions of news posted to digg.com instantly using Ajax technology!

Pageflakes makes another aim at a thing called ‘web desktop’ – a place to gather your email, RSS feeds, latest news of your interest and other stuff. Two most notable examples of web desktops are Google Personalized Homepage and Microsoft Start.com.

Pageflakes like most of the Ajax Desktops, features RSS reading, email checking, note taking, searching, etc.
It also provides a developer API to allow third party module-creation. It’s still in very early developer release (pre-alpha), and that may be the reason why it only supports IE. Sheesh…

dPolls released a website containing nothing but polls. They’re ajax-powered, so giving your vote feels very interactive, along with the progress bar and nicely drawn graphics. You can set up poll on almost any topic, and best of all it’s actually free for everyone!

jQuery is a Javascript library that takes this motto to heart: Writing Javascript code should be fun. jQuery acheives this goal by taking common, repetitive, tasks, stripping out all the unnecessary markup, and leaving them short, smart and understandable. A quick example:

It comes as either a bookmarklet of a firefox extension. When you set up the account at wizlite.com, you can then save your marked snippets for later, e.g. while doing a research on a certain subject. But wait – there’s more! What’s even cooler – by creating groups of folks you are able to share your findings. TADA! Collaborative it really is!

It’s not the first tool for annotating web pages, but others require a browser plugin, which is one massive barrier to widespread adoption. Using various Ajax technologies, Wizlite is able to work anonymously, without a plugin, and on all browsers; the Firefox extension is only an optional extra.
